The proposed project will target the urban area of Dona Ana County and serve the rural communities of Sierra County, Luna County and Otero County. The Child Crisis Center of Southern New Mexico will be located on The Community of Hope campus, Las Cruces, Dana Ana County.

 

The Child Crisis Center will provide care to infants and toddlers 0-5 years of age, whose parents voluntarily surrender them to prevent abuse or neglect. The need for temporary relief for parents may arise due to Incarceration, homelessness, job loss, poor parenting skills, medical situation, grief, mental anguish, to name a few.

 

Child Abuse is a serious problem in Dona Ana County and across our nation. From October through December 2008, In Dona Ana County, 183 children between the ages of 0-17 were in the care of the state, 36% were between the ages of 0-5. Sixty-Six (66) of our littlest residence of Dona Ana County.
